Today we traveled into Quito and walked around the old town. Many beautiful churches, some with gargoyles and animals from the Galapagos gracing the outside of the churches. No pictures allowed in any of the sanctuaries as they are considered to hallowed. I have never seen so much gold. The gigantic statues that stand over this old cities are unbelievably splendid. From there we went into the mountains passing the largest rose growing are of Ecuador. All grown in an organic manner. Then we finished in Santa Paula Lago. We are at a resort on the banks of Lago Santa Paula. We are nestled between two volcanoes. It is so cold that during our dinner there was a fire built in the fireplace in our room. A toasty night awaits.
